About

Though I have unintentionally become somewhat notorious on Twitter as a "permabear," my interests are varied and expand to include activities such as philosophy (the subject on which the majority of my formal education has been focused), history, literature, bodybuilding and even technology, all an effort on my part to be as comprehensive of a man as I am able to be.

I have created this blog because the discipline of writing is one from which I derive almost endless pleasure and it is impossible to express oneself in any way even remotely resembling "deeply" on Twitter given the limitations of that platform.

I have chosen to title this blog "The Will to Truth." Those familiar with the work of Nietzsche, will of course immediately recognize the phrase. It can be defensibly argued that Nietzsche's interpretation of the nature of nature is as "the will to power." That "willing" can unfold and express itself in a multitude of ways, among which is "the will to truth." That is the philosopher's expression of power, and I do take it to be something worth participating in. It's the expression of will that governs much of the way I approach the interests in my life, spending perhaps as much time thinking about the things I do and enjoy as I do doing the things I do and enjoy. And so, writing about those things here involves more the thinking than the doing, hence the title.

It's unusual to have a website that is more a smorgasbord of topics than one narrowed to a specific focus, so I will attempt to categorize my posts so that readers may better find what they are looking for. That navigation can be found using the "labels" feature in the sidebar.
